WASTE MANAGEMENT OPEN
January 29 – February 4
This is one of our favorite events of the year. We still refer to it as the “Phoenix” Open since people from out of state give us a confused look when we say “Waste Management.” It’s also called the “Greatest Show on Grass.” Such great people watching and atmosphere that there have been years we haven’t even seen anyone take a swing of a golf club. So much more than golf.
Saturdays are the busiest. Pro Am on Wednesday with athletes and celebrities is a great day to try out the Open if you’re not a big crowd person.
Impressed every year with how well organized and easy it is to get from your car to the bus to the golf course.

BARRETT JACKSON CAR AUCTION
January 13 – 21
First of all, you don’t have to be a car lover to enjoy this event. we could give a flying leap about cars but we’ll never miss this event. It’s not because there’s men from all over the country that are here. (That would be reason enough though.) Really….. it’s sooooo interesting. The vehicles are incredible, the auction is amazing, the scenery (men) is fabulous. Plus, there are awesome vendors. Not just car stuff. There’s Art! Another example, hair dressers were there selling curling irons that straighten your hair in seconds. They did mine! It took seconds. Who would have thought? At a car show! barrett-jackson.com

ARIZONA FINE ART EXPO
January 12-March 25
Looks like this is only famous artists and you can watch them hone their craft in their studios. We really need to get an “art” person to type these write ups because the current author’s capabilites are strictly stick figures with maybe some not so anatomically correct body parts.
